With free admission sponsored by the Victoria Foundation, curator Jan Ross estimated some 1,000 people visited the birthplace and family home of the woman who has inspired me to travel the province visiting the places she lived and worked. I gave two talk/readings and had a wonderful time talking for hours with an amazing array of Emily Carr fans and even met some of my social media friends. It was just super.

Emily Carr House Curator’s Pick: Emily Carr’s BC Honoured

2B9A3838Jan Ross, curator of Emily Carr House in Victoria (and all-around Emily guru) has informed me that Emily Carr’s BC: Vancouver Island is not only being carried in the historic site’s gift shop, but is also being honoured as a “curator’s pick.”

In her message, Ms. Ross said, “The book is wonderful… Not only is it a great read but it surpasses being a helpful and well illustrated travel guide into a sojurn of research and insight into Carr herself. I love your use of her own words as a way to engage your reader and illuminate the journey.”

In a later Facebook post she added, “Laurie’s new book Emily Carr’s BC is my Curator’s Choice for our visitors. It is a wonderful read and so insightful and well researched.”
