Shortlisted for Whistler Book Awards

Delighted to announce that Emily Carr’s BC: Northern BC & Haida Gwaii has been shortlisted for the Whistler Independent Book Awards.

This is my personal favourite of the Emily Carr’s BC trilogy. It deals with only a few weeks of Emily life during the summers of 1912 and 1928. Yet her experiences on these two northern journeys reveal a great deal about Emily’s character and motivation, and contributed enormously to the material for her art and writing.

My own journey was both illuminating and poignant.

Pemberton Museum Emily Carr Presentation

UntitledHow to thank Niki Madigan, curator of the Pemberton Museum, for the effort that went into editing this video of the book tour talk I gave there on October 17 … This in addition to all the help that she and historically minded Pembertonians gave during the research phase of Emily Carr’s BC: Book Three: South Coast to the Interior. Perhaps a plug for this exceptional institution. If you’re ever in the area, don’t miss the opportunity to visit.
